First Food!

This past weekend, we gave Kayla her first taste of "real food". We starting feeding her a little bit of rice cereal in the morning. She seems to like it although we're not sure how much actually makes it in her mouth. We also started putting her in the high chair so she can eat like a big girl with her parents and put her in the jumperoo for the first time.

In other exciting news (maybe) we think Kayla might be teething. She's been a little crabbier lately, has had some minor issues feeding, and has been putting everything in her mouth. We'll have to wait and see if it is actually a tooth or just a little phase she is going through.

Four Months & Father's Day

Kayla had her 4 month appointment on the 11th. Everything is going pretty well so far. She is just under 13 pounds, which is a little below average for her age. She was right on target for her height and her head was a little larger than average - we just assume it's a large brain :) She also had her 4 month shots and did pretty well after a couple minutes of loud screaming.

During Father's Day weekend, Grandma and Grandpa Czar stopped by Madison for a few days on their way up to the cabin in Northern WI. On Saturday, we all went over to Grandma Ferris' house for Kayla's cousin Emry's first birthday. On Sunday, all the dads went out golfing and luckily it was the first day in about 2 weeks that there wasn't a torrential downpour.

Rolling, Laughing, and Tornadoes

Kayla has been continuing to improve her strength in holding up her head while on her tummy. She even rolled over again (the first time since she was 4 weeks old) but I think she was as surprised as we were after she did it. Kayla has also been laughing periodically over the past couple of weeks and we finally caught it on video this afternoon.

We had a little bit of a nervous moment today. Mom and Dad went out to a movie this afternoon for Dad's birthday while LeAnne came over to the house to babysit. While we were in the movie theatre, there was a tornado warning for Dane County - it figures it would happen during one of the rare moments we were not with our little girl. Luckily, we just ended up with a lot of rain and no destruction :)

Memorial Day Weekend

Kayla enjoyed her first road trip out to Cleveland for Memorial Day weekend and she was really good in the car. On Friday we took Kayla out to dinner with our friends Becky and Jerry. It went pretty well except our overly excited waitress decided to wake her up when she was trying to sleep so she was a little crabby. On Saturday, Kayla put on a good show for all the relatives and friends she met for the first time out there at a cookout at grandma and grandpa's house. Uncle Bryan got to hold her for the first time and grandma and grandpa enjoyed being able to spoil her some more. On Sunday, we took her to the Cleveland Zoo with our friends Heather & George and their boys. On Tuesday, we attempted to go to the Brookfield Zoo outside of Chicago on our way back but that wasn't as nice an experience. Kayla was tired from being in the car for too long and the weather suddenly got really cold and windy. At least we were able to enjoy the indoor dolphin show before cutting the trip short and heading to our hotel in Chicago.
