Water Weekend

Kayla had a fun time around the water this weekend. On Saturday, we went swimming in the pool at Grandpa Ferris' condo complex. Kayla did pretty well moving around in her shaded float and liked swimming around with her rubber ducky.

On Sunday, mom and dad took Kayla out to Governor Nelson State Park to go on a hike and to relax by the beach/lake. Due to a swarm of mosquitoes, we decided on the sunny path instead of the wooded path for the hike.

Corn and Birthdays

It was an eventful weekend for the Ferris Family. On Friday, we took Kayla in for her 6 month pictures. Just like at 3 months, she decided not to smile much at the studio but we did get a couple good pictures. On Saturday, she went to her first Sun Prairie Corn Festival and watched her grandma, dad, and uncle Bob eat an insane amount of corn. She also got to hang out with her cousins Tiara and Emry and their parents.

On Sunday we all went over to grandma's for dinner (yes, more sweetcorn) to celebrate birthdays (uncle Bob and aunt Tricia on the 17th, and Tiara on the 18th). Kayla had fun playing the piano with Emry.

Sitting Up

Kayla figured out how to sit up on her own. She had done it before for a few seconds every once in a while, but all of a sudden she was able to sit up for a long time! Daddy is excited because it means he will be able to take her running in the jogging stroller soon :)

Kayla has also figured out how to pop the tray off her Bumbo so she can eat it ;)

Baptism Weekend

Baptism Weekend

Kayla was baptised this past Sunday at Heritage Church in Madison. Grandma Ferris made the beautiful dress that Kayla wore - she brought it over for a preliminary photo session on Saturday. She did really well at the service and had a lot of fun being passed around to family and friends at the cookout we had following the service. Mom spent a lot of time on Saturday making the beautiful cake for Kayla's baptism. We had a little bit of excitement at the cookout when Dad managed to start his grill on fire - luckily the house didn't burn down and it was right at the end so the food survived as well.

Mallards Baseball Game

Last Friday, we took Kayla to a Madison Mallards game with Grandma and Grandpa Czar. It was the first time at a Mallards game for all of us and Kayla did really well - she lasted through the whole game! Unfortunately the Mallards didn't do as well and lost the game.

Up North Again

We all went up North again this past weekend to visit Grandma and Grandpa Czar at their cabin. Kayla was very good in the car both ways and she even got to help drive on the way up there - both hands on the wheel Kayla! On Friday, the guys snuck out to golf 18 holes and had a lot of fun. Friday night Mom, Dad, and Grandpa went out fishing and caught a ton of fish while Grandma babysat Kayla. We saw an eagle soar around above the boat and also saw another large bird that we didn't identify (probably a heron or osprey). After we got back from fishing, we saw a mama black bear walking down the street with 3 little cubs!!! Unfortunately I was unable to get any pictures of the bears for fear of being mauled. Saturday we all kind of hung out around the cabin and had a pretty relaxing day, then stayed up too late playing card games.

This week we are busy with all the preparations for Kayla's baptism on Sunday and a cookout afterward.
