Kayla Goes Swimming

After Kayla started rolling over onto her stomach we had to take the bumper pad out of her crib for safety reasons. As you can see, she had a little trouble adjusting the first night :)

Last Sunday we took advantage of the nice weather and took Kayla outside in her little kiddie pool - she enjoyed showing off her new bikini and splashing her legs in the water.

Over the past couple weekends mom and dad went away to a wedding, a company picnic, and a concert so Kayla was able to spend some quality time with either Grandma or Grandpa & LeAnne. Mom had some adjusting to do as it was the first time she had been away from her baby for more than a few hours, but she just barely survived...

Five Months and Rolling

Kayla turned five months old yesterday! She also just figured out how to roll over from her back to her stomach. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until she'll be rolling around the floor trying to get into everything - mom and dad will have to start babyproofing soon.

4th of July up North

Over the 4th of July weekend we took Kayla up North to Grandma & Grandpa Czar's cabin. Uncle Bryan was there as well. Since the mosquitoes are especially vicious this year, we brought some netting to put over Kayla's playard and car seat - as you can see from the picture above, she seemed to enjoy it. While up at the cabin, Kayla perfected the fine art of spitting (see video) to entertain herself.
We decided to skip the formal fireworks shows on the 4th and instead watched a homemade show put on by daddy and uncle Bryan. Mom & dad did some canoeing and fishing and saw some nice wildlife (eagles, herons, osprey, muskrat, deer). While fishing, dad thinks he caught the same fish 5 times - a whopping 4-inch long crappie. We had to drive through yet another torrential rain storm in WI on the way back but everyone made it home safely on Monday.

The last picture was from before our trip up North and is Kayla enjoying one of our new storage ottomans.

Four Month Pictures!

Above are some pictures that mommy took when Kayla turned 4 months old - yes that was almost 3 weeks ago, daddy has been procrastinating.

Family Reunion & Fireworks

On Saturday, we took Kayla to the Ferris Family reunion in Fitchburg where she got to meet a lot of her extended family on her dad's side. The rain managed to stay away from the party but the wind did not - luckily Kayla did not blow away. At the reunion we also celebrated several milestone birthdays that will be or already have been this year - pictured are my (Mike) cousin Rick (40), sister Tricia (30), niece Tiara (10), cousin Jerry (50), aunt Gwen (70), Kayla (0), aunt Mary (60), and my dad's cousin Don (60).

On Saturday night, uncle Bryan stopped in Madison on his way up to the cabin in northern WI. We all took Kayla up to the park at the top of our subdivision to watch the big Rhythm & Booms fireworks show that is done at a park a few miles away. We had Kayla all geared up to avoid the mosquitoes but fortunately it was a little chilly and all the mosquitoes eventually left us alone.
