Rhythm & Booms

For Rhythm & Booms (big fireworks show in Madison the Saturday before the 4th) we went up to the park in our subdivision to watch the fireworks with Grandma Ferris, Tricia, Tiara, and Emry. Kayla was pretty excited to get some glow in the dark jewelry from one of the neighbors and she enjoyed watching the fireworks from mommy & daddy's laps.

Backyard Beach - Part II

We had a week of 90+ temperatures and since you could get third degree burns from touching any playground equipment we needed another way to entertain Kayla outside. We decided to set up her backyard pool toy again. She is a really big fan of the little spouts of water that shoot out although she did eventually get brave enough to walk through the main part of the pool.

Father's Day Weekend

On Father's Day weekend we took Kayla swimming at the pool where Grandpa and LeAnne live. Kayla had fun in her floatie toy but was definitely not a fan of going in the water with her life jacket on.

Brewers vs. Sox

On Sunday the 14th, we took Kayla out to Miller Park in Milwaukee to see the White Sox play the Brewers with our friend Kevin. Kayla was wearing the wrong team's clothing but we all know who she was secretly supporting. Daddy was happy cause the White Sox won and Kayla was happy cause she got a giant foam finger :)

Dexter's Party

After the camping trip, we quickly drove back to Madison for Kayla's 2nd cousin Dexter's first birthday party. Like Kayla, Dexter was a little timid about smashing his birthday cake but he eventually warmed up to it when he realized it was filled with sugar. Kayla had fun running around with the other kids and playing with Dexter's toys.

Camping Adventures

We took Kayla tent camping for the first time in early June. Daddy signed up for a crazy 15k trail run at Blue Mounds State Park so we decided to head out early and camp for 2 nights beforehand. It was a lot of fun hanging out at the campground although Kayla didn't sleep real well the first night so the next day was tough at times. Kayla liked running around in the big open area at the top of the park and was a huge fan of the swing (she screamed everytime we tried to take her out of it). We also took a side trip out to Governor Dodge State Park and Kayla really enjoyed playing around in the water at the beach. Unfortunately we didn't think we would be swimming at a beach that day so she didn't have a swimsuit. The weather was perfect and we left on Saturday morning just before the rain came. Daddy's run went really well and somehow he managed to not break an ankle although he came close at least 12 times.
